The ideal candidate will maintain the cleanliness, safety, and functionality of a synagogue building and its grounds.
Required hours include Saturdays, Jewish Holidays, and significant congregational events.
Individual must be fluent in English, be a team player, be hard-working, detail-oriented, organized, polite, and a good communicator.
Base Schedule:
5-day general work week with a 40-hour schedule, including Saturdays Schedule flexibility a MUST Duties &
Responsibilities:
1.
Cleaning and maintaining the interior and exterior of the building:
This includes sweeping and mopping floors, operating a commercial floor scrubber, dusting surfaces, cleaning windows, cleaning and restocking bathrooms, cleaning kitchens, and maintaining the appearance of the buildings exterior.
2.
Assisting with events and services:
Custodians will be responsible for moving, setting up chairs, tables, audio/visual, and other equipment, cleaning up afterward, and providing general assistance for events and services.
3.
Performing minor maintenance tasks, including but not limited to changing light bulbs, replacing air filters, painting, and fixing broken equipment and furniture.
4.
Managing inventory and supplies:
Custodians will be responsible for tracking supplies such as cleaning products, toiletries, light bulbs, paper goods, and other items necessary for the synagogue's operations and then notifying/requesting additional with the Director of operations when necessary.
5.
Occasional heavy lifting in excess of 60 lbs.
Overall, the role of a synagogue custodian is critical to maintaining a welcoming, safe, and functional space for congregation members to gather and worship.
Compensation:
Salary commensurate with experience to include Simple IRA with 3% match, healthcare, dental, short-term, and long-term disability coverage.
Benefits begin four months after the commencement of employment with LMS.
10 PTO (Paid Time Off) days per calendar year 7 sick days The following are paid holidays, should they occur during the work week:
New Year's Day, President's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, and Thanksgiving.
Upon senior custodian retirement and subject to review and approval by the Director of Operations, the following promotion with additional compensation and responsibilities may be available.
Additional compensation One-bedroom apartment, including monthly HOA Does not include electricity or indoor parking garage fee.
Additional responsibilities Be available by cell phone 24/7 for emergencies and consultations with staff and/or synagogue representatives.
Responsible for locking and securing the building every night at approximately 10:
00 PM, ensuring nobody remains inside, and all doors and windows are secured.
